Naturalia Ingredients is the result of a joint research and development project studying a new production process for a natural, delicious and reliable sweetener. The internationally patented process involves the extraction of sugars directly from grapes. It is a unique blend of nature and technology, tradition and modernity, passion and innovation.

Naturalia’s research has developed a method for extracting not only the total sugar component from the fruit but also the two individual components, fructose and dextrose. This allows the two sugars to be used separately or combined in a variety of concentrations, depending on their exact purpose. With this technology, Naturalia is able to produce crystalline sugars in both granular and liquid form with an incredible range of potential uses. The myriad properties of Naturalia sugars offer industrial and artisanal producers from a variety of sectors the opportunity to innovate and improve their own range, with a particular focus on natural elements.
The production of grape sugars in crystalline form, resulting in greater purity and a longer life compared to liquid forms, became possible in 2009 thanks to an internationally patented process developed by Naturalia. Industrial production of this innovative product started in 2012, with the completion of a new industrial plant in Mazara del Vallo, in Trapani province. The complex comprises 60,000 hectares and benefits from a unique microclimate that allows the grapes to develop elevated sugar and flavour concentrations.
Having successfully applied this process to grapes, Naturalia is now able to extend its technology to other fruits. Its aim is to become a leading global company in the production and distribution of juices and natural sugars extracted from fruit. This would make it the first and only entity in the world able to extract these in crystalline form.
